The Palm Centro allows you to check email directly on your phone. Sprint subscribers will have the option of checking email via Versamail or Sprint's proprietary application, Sprint Mobile Email. Centro users with an unlocked Centro or through other service providers will be able to access their Yahoo accounts via Versamail. Unfortunately, Yahoo charges for POP access to its web-based accounts. Fortunately, there is also a work around if you want to access your Yahoo mail on your Centro for free.
Instructions
Paid Version For Sprint Mobile Email
1. Scroll down the home screen on your Palm Centro, and select the Sprint Mobile Email application.
2. Select the "Account Manager."
3. Select "Add Account."
4. Select "Yahoo Mail."
5. In the Yahoo ID field, enter your Yahoo ID.
6. In the password field, enter your password.
7. Select "Next."
8. Select "Register." This will link your account to your phone. It may take a few minutes and will only work if you are a Yahoo Mail Plus subscriber.
9. Select the Home icon to bring you back to your account screen.
10. To read your Yahoo emails, tap the Yahoo icon.
Paid Version For Versamail
11. Select "Email" from your applications home screen. If this is the first time you have launched the program, you will be taken directly to the Account Setup screen.
12. Select "Menu."
13. Tap the "Accounts button" and then press "Account Setup."
14. Tap "New."
15. Select a descriptive name in the "Account Name" field. This is used for your personal reference, so you can choose something you will remember.
16. In the "Mail Service" drop-down menu, select "Yahoo" and press "Next."
17.Enter your Yahoo ID in the "Username" field and your password in the "Password" field.
18. Select "OK" and then press "Next."
19. A settings review screen should pop up. Here the email setting fields should be pre-populated. You can review them and then select "Next."
20. Finish the setup by pressing "Done." If you have a Yahoo Mail Plus Account, you will be able to check your Yahoo email account like any other email account through Versamail.
Free Version Using Yahoo Mail Mobile
21. Point your web browser to the Yahoo Mail for mobile site at http://mobile.yahoo.com/mail.
22. On the Yahoo Mail for mobile site, enter your mobile phone number in the boxes provided on the upper right side of the screen.
23. Select "Send a Link to My Phone"
24. In a few minutes, you will get an SMS message with a personalized link.
25. Follow the link on your phone, and you will be able to access your Yahoo email via the web.
