Olympus Ds 2300 Instructions

The Olympus DS-2300 model lets you record audio files, from voice interviews you need to transcribe later to meetings you may want to listen to at a later date. Before recording any audio, the DS-2300 needs to be properly configured so it knows store files with the correct date and time. After recording any audio, the files are also available to be transferred to your computer in two different ways, if you want to send them to someone else or keep a digital backup copy.


Instructions


Setup


1. Press down the arrow icon on the bottom end of the DS-2300 and slide the battery cover to the right. Use the "+" and "-" icons to insert two AAA batteries into the corresponding battery ports.


2. Slide the battery cover into the closed position. Push the rectangular "Power" button on the back of the recorder over to the "On" position.


3. Tap the "FF" button on the right side of the recorder to move through the hour options until you find the correct hour. Hit "Record" to set the hour. Repeat the process to set the minute, year, month and day.


4. Slide over the card slot cover on the side of the recorder and insert an xD card into the slot. Close the card slot cover.


Recording


5. Tap the circular "New" button on the front of the recorder to make a new voice file. Hit the "Record" button on the upper-right side to start recording.


6. Press the "Stop" button at the front of the device to stop recording your new voice file. Press the "Pause" button if you want to stop recording for a brief amount of time but keep the same file. Hit "Record" again to resume the recording.


7. Tap the "Rewind" or "FF" buttons on the side of the recorder to scroll through your list of recorded voice files. Hit "Play" to begin playing the voice file. Press "Stop" and hit "Record" if you want to record over a segment of the file. Press "Stop" again to stop recording.


Transferring Data


8. Pull off the card slot cover if your computer has a built-in card reader. Gently push in the xD card and slide the card out of the slot.


9. Insert the xD card in your computer's card slot. Click "Open a folder to view files" in the "AutoPlay" window. Click any voice file you want to save and drag it to your computer's desktop.


10. Connect a USB cable to the USB port on the DS-2300 if your computer doesn't have a card reader. Attach the other end of the cable to the USB port on your computer and follow the same procedure of dragging files to your desktop.
