A USB cable can transfer image files in less than a minute.
A digital camera's memory card can often hold hundreds of image files. But those tiny memory cards can be fragile and are not good solutions for permanent storage of your image files. Instead, connect your camera to your computer using the camera's USB cable and download images to your hard drive. From there, you can edit and share your photos and organize them for long-term storage, either on your hard drive or on an external drive or DVD.
Instructions
1. Plug the small end of the USB cable into the USB port on your camera.
2. Insert the larger end of the cable into the USB port on your computer.
3. Turn on the camera and wait for your computer to recognize the device and connect to it.
4. Follow the instructions that appear on your computer screen. Windows 7 uses its Autoplay program to download the image files. Choose "Import Pictures and Videos Using Windows."
5. Turn off the camera after the images have transferred to the computer and disconnect the USB cable.
