Converting your VHS tapes to a DVD is a great way to preserve the films home movies you love for generations to come. The process requires a little electronics know-how, but the benefits are tremendous. Use these steps to convert your VHS tapes to DVDs quickly.
Instructions
1. Capture VHS video into a video editing program such as Final Pro Cut using an analog-to-DVD converter. Encode it to MPEG-2 and author a DVD. This is time consuming, but allows you to edit the film or video.
2. Using a hardware capture device, capture the video to the computer as an MPEG-2. You will then author and burn a DVD. This is quicker.
3. Connect your VCR to a DVD recorder. Set it up to play and record at the same time.
4. Research video editing businesses. Contact them for prices on VHS to DVD conversions. You can even do this sometimes through drug stores or discount stores with photo or video departments.
5. Purchase a VCR/DVDR combo (available at most electronic and department stores). Pop in the VHS tape and a blank DVD and follow the manual directions.
