The Photo Booth program uses the built-in camera on your Mac computer.
Photo Booth is a program that allows you to take pictures or videos using the built-in iSight camera on your Mac computer. Photo Booth is simple and quick to use, and you may easily add special effects to your photos and videos. Photo Booth can help you create unique snapshots and videos to share with your friends and family.
Single Snapshot
Using Photo Booth, you can take self-portrait or group snapshots. Unlike most digital cameras, Photo Booth shows you a live view of the snapshot as you are taking it so that you can get the best picture. It counts down for three seconds, giving you time to pose exactly the way you want. The snapshot shows up immediately after it is taken, and you may then email it to friends or edit it using iPhoto.
Multiple Snapshots
Photo Booth also has the capability to take a group of four snapshots. According to the Apple website, you use the "burst mode" to take four quick photos. Photo Booth will give you a three second start time with the multiple snapshot option, but the photos are taken quickly, so you won't have much time in between them to change poses. Immediately after the pictures are taken, you will see a snapshot with four different images, similar to those that you would take in a real photo booth.
Video
Photo Booth also can take videos. You will have a three second countdown before Photo Booth starts recording. As with snapshots, it shows you a live view of the video as it is recording. When shooting video, Photo Booth displays a timer at the bottom corner showing you, in real time, how long your video is running.
Effects
Before you take your snapshots or record your video in Photo Booth, you have the option of applying different effects. You can add various backdrops, such as riding a roller coaster or taking a picture in front of a sunset. According to Apple, "you can even twist and twirl your smile with the strange Twirl effect." Experiment with adding different backgrounds and effects to your pictures and videos.
Sharing
Photo Booth makes sharing your snapshots and videos easy when you email them. You can take pictures of your friends and use them for identification in your address book. You also may change your Apple account picture in Photo Booth.
