Spot Fake Sennheiser Earphones

Sennheiser Electronic Corporation is a German company that has been around since 1945. The company is known for its cutting edge technology for microphones, head and ear phones and noise cancellation. The company's headphone line ranges from $130 to more than $1,400 as of November 2010. Sennheiser also has an extensive line of earphones that fit inside the ear canal and range from $50 to $100. Because this product is in high demand for its quality, many fake earphones have made their way into the market. Examining the earphone's jack, cable and earbud will help rule if the earphone is genuine.

Instructions

1. Look at the "L" shaped jack that plugs the earphones into the music source. On a fake Sennheiser earphone, the jack is bulky and has grips, or three raised lines, on the sides. Real Sennheiser earphones have no grip on the sides and are small, about 3.5 millimeters.

2. Examine the earphones. The finish on a fake Sennheiser earphone is matte, while a real Sennheiser earphone has a shiny finish.

3. Examine the earphone's cables. On a fake Sennheiser, the cables will have a plastic feel and will be thick. Real Sennheiser cables have a rubbery quality and are thin.

4. Remove the casing around the actual earphone. According to FakeHeadPhones.com, the "grill", or place the sound comes from on the earphone, will have a rounded surface on a fake earphone. Real Sennheiser earphones are flat across the grill.
