Connect A Vcr To A Digital Box

Connect your VCR to your cable TV box.

VCRs are still popular options for viewing and recording video content. Although TiVo and DVR service can record any program streaming from a digital cable or satellite box, the programming is stuck on the TiVo or DVR hard drive. When the hard drive is full, content must be erased to make room for more. With a VCR, you can record your favorite shows and store them on a tape and watch the video at any time. A VCR can be connected to operate with any digital box.

Instructions

1. Connect the coaxial cable coming from the wall into the "Cable In" port on the back of the digital cable/satellite box.

2. Connect the second coaxial cable to the "Cable Out" port on the rear of the TV. Connect the other end of this cable into the compatible coaxial "IN" port on the rear of the TV.

3. Insert one RCA audio cable (this cable contains a red and white jack) into the matching red and white "Audio Out" ports on the rear of the TV. Insert the other end of this RCA audio cable into the matching "Audio In" ports on the rear of the VCR.

4. Insert the RCA component video cable (this cable contains a red, blue and green jack) into the matching red, blue and green "Component Video Out" ports on the rear of the TV box. Insert the other end of this cable into the matching "Component Video In" ports on the rear of the VCR.

5. Power on all three devices --- TV, VCR and the digital cable/satellite box. Change the output channel on both the TV and VCR to 2, 3 or 4 until the VCR is visible.
