Do Loopback Testing For A Coax Cable

When two devices are connected to each other through two coaxial cables, which transmit and receive data between each other, it may be necessary to perform a loopback test to ensure that both devices are working properly. If you wish to perform a loopback test, you can do so easily with the equipment you already have.

Instructions

1. Disconnect both cables from the input and output ports of both devices.

2. Connect one end of the first cable to the coaxial output port on your first device, and connect the other end of the cable to the input port on the same device.

3. Connect one end of the second cable to the coaxial output port on your second device, and connect the other end of the cable to the input port on the same device. Both devices are now communicating with themselves.

4. Turn both devices on. If both devices are looping back properly, LED lights on the device will signal the success of the test. The LED lights you need to examine will vary depending on the device you are testing.
