Connect Firewire Ieee 1394 To A Dell Xp Monitor

Connect a FireWire cable connection to your Dell XP monitor.

IEEE 1394 is an Apple created connection port also referred to as FireWire. This connection port provides a faster data transfer rate than standard USB connections and is on many Windows and Mac based computer systems. Some Dell computers even have a FireWire connection port built right into the monitor, allowing you to hook up equipment without kneeling down and finding the IEEE 1394 port on the back of the system.

Instructions

1. Insert the FireWire cable into the FireWire connection port on the hardware you want to hook up to the Dell XP monitor, such as a digital video camera or a hard drive.

2. Plug the other end of the FireWire cable into the IEEE 1394 connection port on the Dell XP monitor.

3. Power on the connected equipment. Shortly, the computer will pop up with a message that it has detected a new, removable device.

4. Access the information on the hardware by clicking "Start," "(My) Computer" and double-click the removable device icon.
