Set Up A Directv Plus Dvr Receiver

Recording television shows for viewing later has always been popular ever since the VCR started recording, but now it has grown into so much more with Digital Video Recorders doing most of the work for people. Almost every cable and satellite company offers one, including DIRECTV. Their DIRECTV Plus DVR receiver is a great piece of technology that can be easily set up.

Instructions

The Receiver Box

1. Open your DIRECTV Plus DVR receiver box. Inside you will find the actual receiver, a small access card, power cable, the remote control, and a user guide.

2. Set aside the remote control and user guide for now, and discard any packaging material.

3. Connect the receiver to the satellite. You will need two cable lines that come from the satellite to the room that you want to receiver in. The best way to do this is by having a DIRECTV worker actually install this for you and run the lines right through the wall.

4. Set the receiver where you want to keep it permanently. The best spot to put it is on top of the TV because that will allow the best area for the remote to work and access to the back panel. For easier installation, move you television out a little bit so that you can access the back of the television.

5. Become familiar with the back of the receiver and locate the “Satellite In” section on the left side of the back of the receiver.

6. Take the two cables that were fed directly from the satellite and screw them into the inputs that are labeled “SAT 1” and “SAT 2”.

Coaxial Cable

7. Use a RF coaxial cable and plug it into the input that is labeled “Out to TV”. There is an input right above it that is labeled “Off-Air In”, make sure you do not connect the cable to that input.

8. Take the other end of the cable that is plugged into “Out to TV” and plug it into the back of your TV.

9. Remove the DIRECTV access card from it packaging and go to the front of your receiver.

10. Flip open the flap on the right side and look for the opening that says “Access Card”. Insert the access card into the receiver.

11. Plug the power cord into the back of the receiver and into a nearby outlet.

12. Press the power button on the front of the DIRECTV Plus DVR receiver and also power up your TV. The satellite will then load the information into you receiver and you will be ready to watch and record TV.
