3. Ask a customer service representative for an application. Most credit card applications are located either at the Kmart customer service desk or at the cash registers. At some Kmarts, the cashier can fill the form out for you just by asking a few questions and you can be approved in minutes. Another fast and convenient way to fill out the application is online and approval takes just a few minutes.
4. Fill the application out. Be as thorough and honest as you can. You will have to give out your Social Security number and other personal information, so make sure you don't let others look over your shoulder at your application. Applications are usually destroyed after the information is put into the computer or you may even request that they give it back to you so you can destroy it yourself.
5. Wait for the decision. If you are applying for a Kmart credit card online or directly with the cashier, approval will only take a few minutes. If you fill the application out and mail it in, it could take six to eight weeks for approval.
