Wire A Car Equalizer

Installing a car equalizer can shore up lacking sound quality in a mobile audio system.

Car interiors are not inherently conducive to good sound. The process of carefully placing speakers, without extensive re-working of the interior, means that proper acoustics must be achieved by electronics means. Car equalizers, while not consuming much power, can make a powerful difference in the sonic signature of an amplified automotive system. Keeping the vehicle sounding its best by installing a car audio equalizer can make the difference between a mundane and exciting trip.

Instructions

1. Cut three lengths of primary wire (positive, neutral and ground) to reach between the amplifier and the intended installation location for the EQ.

2. Strip 1/4 inch of insulation from both ends of all primary wire runs.

3. Remove the positive battery terminal using the socket wrench and appropriate insert.

4. Sequentially unscrew the terminal leads from the amplifier using the appropriate screwdriver. Insert the positive lead for the amplifier, and screw the terminal screw back down. Repeat for the neutral and remote leads.

5. Insert the other end of the primary wire that leads into the Molex plug. Snap the connectors back down, and insert the Molex plug into the keyed terminal on the EQ.
