Motorola V66 Cell Phone Tips & Tricks

The Motorola V66 may not be a complex smartphone, but it is still capable of performing some exciting functions. With a few tips and tricks, you can become an expert at managing your phone and getting the most out of Motorola's device. You will be able to connect to any network and even learn use the sometimes tricky voice command features.

Network Selection

One of the great features of the V66 is the ability to select from among multiple cell phone networks when you are roaming or changing carriers. From the main menu of your phone, go to "Settings," then "Other Settings" and then "Network" to get in the right spot.

Now hit "Network Setup" and "Type," then "Manual" and "Done." You've reached the menu that allows you to select a carrier network to connect to. Select your carrier and then hit "Register" or "select" to connect. You can begin using your phone immediately once the connection is established.

Insert Plus Sign

While it may seem insignificant, the plus sign is key when it comes to making international calls on the Motorola V66. Without it, the call will not go through. When you bring up the dialer screen, press and hold the zero key first to add the plus sign before you start dialing numbers. Now you can make international calls from the phone.

Voice Commands

Voice commands may appear tricky to the inexperienced user, but anyone can perform the many available functions. You can set up contacts in your phone book to have voice entries for easy dialing. Open up your contact list and click "Edit" on the contact you want to voice-dial. Push the navigation pad until "VoiceName" appears on the screen, and then hit "Record" to begin the process. Follow the easy-to-use on-screen prompts until you are satisfied with the recording, and then hit "Done."

To use your new voice command, hold the button on the right of the phone's exterior to open up the voice dialing. Clearly say the name of the contact you want to call. The phone will repeat the name of the contact to confirm, and then place your call.

Lock Phone

The ability to lock your phone is handy in case you leave it somewhere by accident and don't want others to use it. From your main menu, go to "Settings," "Security" and then click on "Phone Lock." Once there, click "Lock Now" or "Automatic Lock" to initiate the process. Now you can enter your special password to keep others out (a default setting is typically 1234).

Zoom Functions

The Motorola V66 camera has the ability to zoom. You can set the phone to show either three lines or two lines of text (this also shows the labels for the soft keys, regardless of option). Three lines of text display more information on the screen itself, while two lines increase text size for readability. To change the display view, press once, then hit the "Menu" button once and then hold it again within two seconds of the first press.
