Memory sticks hold data for easy copying and transferring between PCs.
USB memory sticks let you quickly move data between multiple computers. These convenient devices are automatically recognized by PCs as soon as you plug them into a USB port, and you can manage files in them from the Windows 7 desktop. If you want to transfer files from a memory stick while retaining the originals, you can copy the data with just a few clicks.
Instructions
1. Insert the memory stick into an empty USB port on your computer. If this is your first time using the memory stick on the PC, Windows automatically locates and installs necessary driver files. Wait for a message to appear in the lower right-hand corner letting you know when the device is ready to use.
2. Click on the "Start" menu.
3. Click "Computer."
4. Double-click on the memory stick underneath the "Devices with Removable Storage" section. On most computers the memory stick is labeled as drive "E."
5. Click to highlight the files or folders you want to copy. Press and hold the "Ctrl" key to select multiple files.
6. Right-click on one of the files after you've finished selecting the data you want to duplicate.
7. Click "Copy."
8. Browse your computer's hard drive until you find a suitable place to store the copied data.
9. Right-click in the window's blank space and select "Paste." Your copied files will appear for you to access and edit as needed.
