Tmobile Mytouch 4g Vs G2

The T-Mobile myTouch 4G and T-Mobile G2 smartphones were released in 2010. The phones are nearly identical physically, but do have a few minor differences in their measurements and weights. While the G2 features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, the myTouch 4G's keyboard is located on the phone's touch screen. These and other minor differences are things you should consider before heading for the checkout counter.

Cameras

The T-Mobile myTouch 4G and T-Mobile G2 feature 5-megapixel digital cameras that capture still images at up to 2,592 by 1,944 pixels of resolution and are capable of recording video. Only the G2, however, comes with a secondary camera that gives the phone videoconferencing capability. Camera features, such as auto focus and geotagging, provide both phones with added photographic functionality. Geotagging is a process that embeds map and GPS coordinates into each picture taken by the phone.

Battery Lives

Both the T-Mobile myTouch 4G and the T-Mobile G2 are powered by a standard lithium-ion battery, which provides the phones with slightly different battery life. The myTouch 4G gets up to 10 hours of talk time and up to 432 hours, or 18 days, of standby time. The G2 gets up to 9.8 hours of talk time and up to 430 hours, or 17.9 days, of standby time. Compared to similar models on the market in 2011, these times rank above the seven-hour average for talk time and below the 446-hour, or 18.6-day, average for standby times.

Memory

The T-Mobile myTouch 4G comes with 4GB of data storage and 768MB of RAM, while the T-Mobile 2G offers the same amount of data storage, but with 512MB of RAM. Both devices feature a built-in micro-Secure Digital card slot for up to 32GB of expanded memory. Both phones support microSD cards, which offer up to 2GB of memory, and high-capacity microSD (microSDHC) cards, which provide between 2GB and 32GB of memory. With the maximum amount of memory installed, the phones support a virtually unlimited amount of contacts with multiple phone number entries and photo and ringtone ID.

Miscellaneous

Based on the same Android 2.2 operating system, the T-Mobile myTouch 4G and T-Mobile G2 operate using nearly-identical processors. The myTouch 4G uses a 1GHz Scorpion processor, while the 2G uses a 600 MHz version of the same processor, which translates into faster computing speed with the myTouch 4G. Both phones connect to the 2G and 3G wireless networks using GSM and HSDPA technology and are Wi-Fi compatible. Each device features an assisted-GPS application, which utilizes a combination of satellite and cellular tower signals for navigational functionality.
