Scratches that occur on a CD can cause it to not play correctly in a CD player or the CD-ROM drive in your computer. Skips that are heard when playing a disc are also caused by scratches. However, this is not a reason to discard the disc and obtain a new one. Scratches in a disc are able to be cleaned using a polishing method. Polishing removes material to the level of the scratch so the disc will play correctly.
Instructions
1. Secure the CD label applicator to the edge of a table or desk with the clamps.
2. Apply lubricating spray to the surface of the scratched disc.
3. Attach the polishing pad to the electric polisher. Apply a small amount of the resurfacing spray onto the polishing pad.
4. Plug the electric polisher into an electrical outlet and set the speed to low.
5. Hold the edges of the disc with your fingers. Place the polishing pad on 1/2 of the disc and then press the trigger. Move the polisher back and forth. Reposition your fingers and polish the other side of the disc.
6. Wipe the disc clean with a microfiber or lint-free cloth.
