Carry your camera in a bag as brightly adorned as you are.
You can show off your creativity with the types of photos you take, so why not show off that same creativity with your photo-taking accessories. You can keep the embellishments simple, with a few glue-on gemstones or decorate the entire bag with gemstones, monograms, appliqu patches and more. If you have a lightweight camera, you can even replace the camera bag strap with a brightly patterned length of satin ribbon.
Instructions
1. Decorate the back of the camera bag. Stake your claim on the bag and add your initials with a hand-embroidered monogram. Place a piece of stabilizer underneath the area you will monogram, stencil the letters onto a piece of tracing paper and pin the stencil to the right side of the bag.
2. Use two pieces of metallic embroidery floss and a medium-size embroidery needle. Stitch the letters, beginning on the inside of the bag and knot the floss at the end. Gently pull off the stabilizer and tracing paper.
3. Decorate the shoulder strap with glue-on imitation gemstones. Lay the strap on your working surface and place the gemstones on the strap in the pattern or design you would like.
4. Pick up one gemstone at a time and apply glue to the back. Press the stones firmly in place on the strap. Continue until all of the gemstones are glued to the strap.
5. Add the imitation gemstones to the top of the bag. If the bag can be ironed, you can use an imitation gemstone iron-on image. If the bag cannot be ironed, arrange the gemstones on the top of the bag in a random order or in a design and glue the gemstones to the top of the bag.
6. Add an appliqu patch on each of the camera bag's pockets. Choose a patch that takes up approximately 1/3 of the pocket. Pin the appliqu in the center of the pocket and sew, beginning in the inside of the pocket. Knot the thread when you're finished.
