Specifications For Sony Hr6 Nimh Batteries

Sony's HR6 battery is compatible with most recharging stations.

The Sony HR6 NiMH battery refers to Sony's stock AA rechargeable NiMH batteries. HR6 is a code given to the NiMH battery styles by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) calls the style 1.2H2. Sony's model number for the standard 2-pack is NHAAB2RN. The battery is compatible with any electronic device that calls for AA batteries, but is ideally suited for cameras and other digital devices.

Physical Dimensions

The HR6 battery by Sony is equal in size and shape to standard AA batteries. The unit stands two inches tall, and approximately a half-inch wide. The battery does not have a recessed negative terminal like most alkaline AA batteries. The positive terminal is raised, however. The HR6 weighs approximately one ounce. The battery will fit in any device that calls for AA batteries.

Charge Specifications

The battery is shipped pre-charged with 1,000 mAh capacity, and can be recharged within three hours. You can safely recharge the unit up to 1,000 times. The battery has a built-in cut off when the battery has reached the maximum charge so there are no worries of damaging it from over-charging. The HR6 maintains up to 75% of its original charger after 1 year, and functions 1.5 times longer than standard alkaline batteries.

Charging and Use

The Sony HR6 battery is compatible with all devices that accept AA batteries, including chargers. The built-in cutoff switch allows any trickle or speed charger to function with the battery without damaging either the battery or the charger. The HR6 works in portable CD and MP3 players, remotes, cameras, camcorders, and any other electronic device needing 1.5 volts.
