Troubleshoot A P92

There are a number of issues you can come across while using a Sony DSC-P92 digital camera. These issues include the camera either not turning on or turning off during operation. You might also experience images that are not clear, too bright or too dark. Fortunately, there are a number of troubleshooting steps to fix these problems.

Instructions

1. Check the batteries if the camera does not start. Check that the "+" and "-" symbols on the batteries match with those shown on the battery compartment. If they do not, take the batteries out and re-insert them so the symbols match. If the symbols match but the camera does not start, try re-charging the batteries or replacing them with new ones. If you have your camera running on an external AC adaptor instead of batteries, check that the camera is securely connected to the adaptor.

2. Use the macro image feature if pictures are out of focus. Set the camera to shoot still images using the mode selector wheel on the back of the camera. Press the right arrow and flower symbols on the control button. Center the subject you want to take a picture of in the frame, then fully press the shutter button down. If images are still out of focus, check if the camera is in landscape mode (represented by a symbol of two mountains) or twilight mode (represented by a symbol of a crescent moon). If it is in either of these modes, select "[Auto]" or "[Program]" to exit them. Use the mode selector to change the camera to "Camera" mode, then press "Menu." Try setting the camera to auto-focus. Choose either the "[Multi AF]" or "[Center AF]" option.

3. Adjust the exposure if images are too bright or too dark. Use the mode selector to set the camera to "Camera." Press "Menu" and select the "EV" option. Use the arrow up and arrow down options to adjust the exposure until the image displayed on the LCD screen is satisfactory. Try adjusting the brightness of the LCD screen as well. If the LCD screen is too bright or too dark, it might give a false impression of an image's brightness. Set the mode selector to "Set Up," then set "LCD Brightness" to either "Bright," "Normal" or "Dark." The setting depends on the lighting of the room you are in or the natural light if you are outdoors.
