Get My Webcam To Work On Yahoo Messenger

Yahoo! Messenger is a desktop application that allows you to converse in real time with your Yahoo! contacts. The application provides support for voice and video chat and allows you to stream your webcam in real time. Once you are streaming your webcam, your contacts can request access to it. Yahoo! Messenger scans your computer for available webcams when you attempt to use one, and then uploads its feed through your ISP to its servers.

Instructions

Checking the Webcam

1. Plug the webcam into an available USB port if it is not built in.

2. Confirm that your webcam is working properly by clicking "Start," typing "device manager" into the search bar and then clicking the "Device Manager" result.

3. Click "Imaging Devices" in the Device Manager window.

4. Right-click the "webcam" entry and then click "Properties." If the "Device Status" window contains the sentence "This device is working properly," the webcam is working.

5. Start Yahoo! Messenger and log in.

6. Click the "Messenger" tab and then click "My Webcam."

7. Click "Actions," "More Actions," and then "Invite to View My Webcam."
