The Chevy Silverado has been a staple of the Chevrolet truck lineup for many years. Silverados usually come equipped with a factory stereo and speakers, but audio enthusiasts often replace the factory-equipped speakers with high-performance aftermarket speakers to improve the quality of the system and the sound of their music.
Instructions
1. Pry up the scuff plate at the base of the door of your Silverado. The plate is held in place with metal clips---use the panel tool to pry it up and release the clips.
2. Locate the trim strip at the bottom of the rear window. Use panel tool to pry it off.
3. Pry off the top of the rear pillar trim panel, starting at the top and working downward. Remove the panel when it's loose.
4. Press in on the tab at the top of the rear speaker bracket. This will release the speaker from the opening. Pull it out and disconnect the wiring. Now you're ready to install the new speakers.
5. Place the new speaker in the opening; mark position of the mounting screw holes. Drill holes in those locations. Screw the new speaker in place, after connecting the wiring. You've installed new rear speakers into your Chevy Silverado.
6. Test the speakers. Reassemble the interior in reverse order of removal.
