Recording your karaoke is a cheap way to create your own album.

Recording your own album is a great way to showcase your vocal or instrumental abilities in a way that can be shared with the world. Karaoke music tracks can be high quality, which makes producing a professional-sounding album easier and cheaper than if you hired a band to play behind you. Once recorded, your album can be put online or sent to a CD-duplication company. Your family and friends will be amazed at the quality sound of your album.

Instructions

1. Look behind your karaoke unit for the "External Speaker" output. These should be RCA jacks.

2. Look behind your computer and locate your sound card. This will have 3-5 1/8th-inch jacks, each with an icon next to it denoting what it is.

3. Plug the RCA side of your cable into the external speaker output on your karaoke machine.

4. Plug the 1/8th-inch stereo cable into the microphone input on your sound card. This will be the jack with the image of a microphone next to it.

5. Plug your headphones into the headphone jack on your karaoke player.

6. Insert the CD that contains the song that you wish to sing to. Cue the player up to this track.

7. Open up your audio recording program. Programs such as Adobe Audition, Cool Edit, Acid and Fruity Loops are available online as free demo downloads.

8. Press the "Record" button on your recording program. The program should begin recording.

9. Put on your headphones.

10. Press "Play" on your Karaoke player. You will hear the music coming out of your headphones.

11. Sing into the microphone provided with your karaoke machine. Your computer should be recording you as you sing.

12. Press "Stop" on your recording program when you are done singing. You now have a recording of you singing to a karaoke track.

13. Click on the "File" tab and choose "Save As" to save your recording. You now have one song for your album.
