What Is A Flip Camera

The Internet has revolutionized the way people view and share video. Back in the old days, memories were recorded on a bulky video camera and watched on a TV using a VCR. Now technology allows videos to appear minutes after they were recorded. If you want to show your videos on YouTube and Facebook, or store them digitally, a Flip camera might be right for you.

Flip Ultra

The basic Flip video camera is the Flip Ultra. Like all Flips, the Ultra fits in your pocket. It comes in black, white, yellow or pink. It can store around two hours' worth of footage. The camera takes two AA batteries, or can be recharged with an optional battery pack. The HD version can take HD-quality videos, but the battery lasts half as long.

Flip Mino

The Flip Mino is a sleek upgrade of the Ultra. It comes with a rechargeable lithium battery. The camera is a lot smaller and the quality slightly better than the Ultra. The HD version is one of the best Flip cameras, and comes in a black or silver design.

Benefits

One of the main benefits of using a Flip is its ease of use. The camera starts up within seconds, and is very portable. To upload clips to a computer, simply flip out a USB connection and hook it up. The small LCD screen helps save power. The camera is perfect for capturing random moments.

Considerations

The Flip camera is great for personal videos and family movies, but it should not be used for professional productions. The camera has limited features for professional videos, and the small size causes shakiness. The camera has auto-focus, and its 2x zoom limits its use.

Size

The Flip camera is available in three storage sizes: 2 GB, 4 GB and 8 GB. The Ultra has a 2-inch screen, while the Mino has a 1.5-inch screen. The HD versions have a resolution of 1280 x 720; the standard versions have a 640 x 480 resolution.
