Car stereos are among the most frequently customized car parts.
The Volvo 940 was a popular brand of saloon or estate car manufactured by the Volvo group between 1991 and 1998. It came with either a cassette or CD stereo head unit as standard. Users can replace the head unit with an aftermarket stereo with only a couple of adapations.
Instructions
1. Remove the small covers on the left and right hand edges of the stereo. Insert a flat head screwdriver in each of the slots on the stereo's sides. Push the screwdriver head on either side in toward the stereo to release the holding clips. Pull the stereo out of the housing in the dashboard.
2. Disconnect the stereo from the factory wire harness. Disconnect the radio antenna. Remove the factory stereo.
3. Connect the Volvo wire harness for aftermarket stereos to the factory wire harness. Align the connections and push the male connection on the aftermarket harness into the wire harness connection from the car until it clicks into place Repeat this process with the other end of the wire harness matching it to the CD player wire harness connection and pushing the male connection in until it clicks into place. Connect the radio antenna wire from the car to the new CD player. Push the wire into the matching dedicated slot on the rear of the aftermarket radio until it is firmly in place. Taking care to push the wiring in first, slide the CD player into the Volvo dashboard housing slot but do not secure it. Turn on the power and try each source (FM, AM and CD).
4. Push in the CD player until it is secure.
