Tips On Using The Nikon Coolpix 5700

Whether you already have a Nikon Coolpix 5700 or you're thinking of buying one, you'll get better performance out of your Nikon and probably enjoy it more with a few simple tips. Nikon is a household name and trusted brand when it comes to cameras. The Nikon Coolpix 5700 is a camera for an intermediate or professional level photographer.

Don't Use Built-in Flash in Small Spaces

The Nikon Coolpix 5700 comes with a built-in flash, but you may end up with a shadow in your picture if you're in a small space. Due to the size of the lens barrel, the 5700 tends to cast a shadow in your picture if you're using your camera to take a picture at short distance from the object. Test it out a few times to get a feel for where the shadow lies in the picture, so you can avoid the problem in the future.

Turn Off the Auto White Balance

If you're going to be shooting a series of photos in quick succession, turn off the auto-white balance. Out of the box, the 5700's white balance is turned on, but, when shooting a number of pictures in rapid succession, the white-balance can cause a red cast to appear over all of your pictures. Turn the white balance off ahead of time if you know you're going to be taking rapid fire shots.

Get a Tripod

For people used to using old 35 mm cameras, it may not come as news, but get a tripod. Like most cameras of its ilk, the Nikon Coolpix 5700 takes some getting used to and is heavier than a simple point and shoot. A tripod can help hold the camera steady, so you can obtain the most crisp, clear shots possible from your camera.
