Recycle A Television And Computer

Electronic devices like computers and TVs are made of materials that are easily recycled.

Electronics like computers and televisions contain heavy metals that can leach out and damage the environment if they are not disposed of properly. Many of the materials--like plastics and metals--used to produce computers and TVs can be recycled and successfully re-manufactured into other types of products. Although traditional recycling centers usually don't accept electronics, there are certain centers where you can take your used devices for proper recycling.

Instructions

Recycle old electronics

1. Visit earth911.com to locate a recycling program in your community where you can take used computers and televisions. If you'd prefer to donate your used electronics for possible reuse, visit E-cycling Central or the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency website to find a suitable program (see Resources).

2. Wipe information off your computer before donating. Some companies will even wipe your computer and prepare it to donate to someone less fortunate.

3. Deliver your used electronics to the recycling center or reuse program of your choice.
