Remove Date Stamps From Pictures

Remove Date Stamps From Pictures

A date stamp is a short line of text printed on the bottom or top corner of a photo. The camera used to take the picture generates the date stamp based on the device's internal clock. When you print or transfer the digital picture image to your computer, the date stamp remains. If you want to remove the stamp, you can do so using an image editing tool or word processing program.

Instructions

Pixlr

1. Use the Pixlr online image editing tool to remove the date stamp from your picture. This is a free tool that allows you to do quick edits to photos from your browser.

2. Visit the Pixlr website (see "Resources"). Choose the option to "Open Image from Computer," then find and open the picture that has the date stamp.

3. Select the "Crop tool" from the Pixlr toolbar and drag the mouse around the part of the picture that you want to keep (just leave out the date stamp).

4. Press "Enter" to remove the date stamp information then "File" and "Save" on the main menu to save the updated picture to your computer.

Microsoft PowerPoint

5. Insert the picture into Microsoft PowerPoint as an alternative ("Insert" then "Picture" on the main menu).

6. Right-click the picture and select "Size and Position" from the list of options ("Format Picture" in some versions).

7. Click the "Size" tab to view your cropping options. Type ".1" into the "Bottom" cropping field ("Top" if the date stamp is at the top), then "OK" to see how much you have cropped off.

8. Repeat this process and enter a higher or lower number if necessary to crop off the date stamp completely. When you are done, click "File" then "Save As," find "JPEG File Interchange Format" on the "Save as type" drop-down box, and then hit "Save."

Adobe Photoshop

9. Open the picture in Adobe Photoshop to get rid of the date stamp. This option is best if you don't want to reduce the size of the picture to get rid of the date stamp.

10. Select the healing brush tool (looks like a bandage) from the Photoshop toolbar.

11. Press the "ALT" key and click the area directly above or below the date stamp with your mouse. Let go of the "ALT" key and then click directly over the date stamp. You'll see part of the date disappear and blend in.

12. Keep clicking your mouse on the date stamp until it's completely covered, then press "File" and "Save" to save the updated image.
