Choose A Prepaid Cell Phone Carrier

Prepaid cellular phones can be useful alternatives to regular plans. These plans typically cost more per minute than traditional plans, but are a good alternative for occasional cell phone users. Also, they do not usually require credit checks, since you pay as you go. Carriers providing this type of service vary widely in the plans they offer.

Instructions

1. Check the phone carriers to see which ones offer prepaid cell phone plans. Most major carriers such as AT&T and Verizon offer these types of plans.

2. Compare rates. Rates can differ widely from company to company. Also, check out some of the smaller carriers such as Virgin Mobile. These companies are competing with larger companies and may offer better rate plans.

3. Choose wisely as most of these plans involve a per-minute rate on a daily basis. Usually it starts at about 25 cents per minute for 10 minutes, and then drops to 10 cents a minute for every minute after that used in that day.

4. Investigate companies that charge a flat per-minute rate. These carriers may have a daily charge connected to them. Companies can charge up to one dollar per day whether or not you use the phone. Again, compare prices against ones that do not offer charges per day to see which would be better for your usage.

5. Select the right cell phone prepaid plan for you based on all factors.
