Make A Recording With Your Microphone Online

Record Straight to the Web

Audio recording for websites, social networking, and other online sources provides added appeal to your site. In most cases, you can record using the recording applications included in your PC or Mac, or via a free program such as Audacity, and plug a mic into the computer--but this requires that you upload your saved recording to the internet. A faster option is to record your audio directly to the Internet via your computer's microphone, thus skipping the upload and any need for internal storage.

Instructions

1. Attach your microphone to your computer. Check that you're inserting the plug into the "Mic" port (it usually has a picture of a microphone next to it). If you're using a USB microphone, you can use any USB port.

2. Visit Chirbit.com to create short audios up to 2 minutes long. Chirbit offers free recording and hosting of your audio. You'll need the Adobe Flash Plug-in to record from your computer's mic or webcam directly to the Chirbit site. Simply register with a username, passwork and email. Then login and choose "Record" to make your audio. Click "Yes" to allow the program to access your recorder or webcam. Click "Record" to record your short audio. When done, click the "Stop" button then add a description and tags.

3. For longer audios, sign up for a free 30-day trial at AudioAcrobat.com online. Once you register, log into AudioAcrobat and click on the audio tab. Click on "Create New Audio", and select the second option "Audio Web Recorder". Click "Yes" to allow AudioAcrobat access to your computer's recorder. Then click the "Begin" button to be taken to the recorder. Click on "Record" to start. The recorder will show you audio input levels and the position and length of your recording. Click "Stop" to end your recording and "Play" to listen to it. Save your recording. When you've finished your recording, enter a title and description of it and click on "Save". The recording will be added to your audio list.

4. Share your recordings. In Chirbit, you can share through the Chirbit network or send it to Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites. Simply click on your audios in Chirbit to view a list of your recordings. Click on the options icon to edit, delete or share the recording. Audioacrobat gives you more options including sending your audio in an email or posting it online. You can access the recording by clicking on it from your Audio list (click on the "Audio" tab). Click on the "View Audio" button to see your recording. From there you can choose to publish your audio or download it. If you want to play it on a website or send it in an email, click the "Publish" option. From there you're given a host of options such as 'publish on website', 'publish for email', and even 'publish on social networking site'. You'll be given a URL or HTML code to copy and paste into whichever option you choose.
