Set Up Remote Surveillance With A Sony Portable Dvd Player

Setting up remote surveillance has been made possible by the introduction of miniature, wireless video cameras that send video to a companion receiver. You can use the attached LCD screen on a Sony portable DVD player as the viewing screen for the camera to watch a room of your house remotely. The wireless video camera and receiver can be purchased from a hobby store or electronics shop, and the only addition needed will be a video cable that most homes already have on hand.

Instructions

1. Place the miniature, wireless video camera in the room or area that you want to record. To record surreptitiously, place the camera out of site -- for example, behind a book on a bookshelf, with the lens peeking out from the side of the book. Slide the power switch on the side of the camera to the "On" position to power the camera through its batteries. Begin recording.

2. Place the companion receiver in another room. Plug the power cord of the receiver into a wall socket for power. Extend an external antenna, if one is attached to the receiver, and angle its tip in the direction of the camera.

3. Plug an end of a composite video cable into the "Video out" socket on the receiver. Plug the other end of the cable into the "Video in" socket on the Sony portable DVD player.

4. Slide the input switch on the player to "Line-input." Turn the player on to watch the video being sent by the camera.
