Record From A Pc To A Video Camera

So you want to record from a PC to a video camera? This is a relatively simple process, assuming your computer comes with an on-board S-Video port. If your computer does not have an S-Video port, you will either need a program that can export video through a firewire port, or a Digital Video Converter, such as a Canopus box. If this is the case, simply follow the directions that come with either of those products, and you will be fine. You will also either need to have a video camera with an S-Video in port, or you will need to purchase a converter, which you can get from Amazon.com or Radio Shack for around $5.

Instructions

1. Plug your S-Video wire into the back of your computer, and then plug the opposite end into the video camera's S-Video input. If you are using the converter, plug the S-Video into the converter, then plug the converter into the video camera. Turn the video camera on, into VCR mode.

2. Right click on an empty area of your desktop, click on the "Settings" tab, then on the "Advanced" button. In the Advanced screen, all computers have the General, Adapter, Monitor, Troubleshoot and Color Management tab. You need to look for one specific for your video card. Select this tab.

3. At this point, you may need to click to open a separate control panel for your video card. Do this, if necessary. Then, hunt around for the Displays, or Set up Multiple Displays section, and enable the second display. If you have the option, put it into "Clone" mode. This will allow the video camera to see everything that is going on on your screen.

4. Open the video you want to record, and make it full-screen. Press "Record" on the video camera, then "Play" on your computer. Do not touch the computer again until the entire video is recorded, as anything that takes place on your screen will be recorded onto the tape.
